Welcome!

Welcome to the Clintonville Youth League web site! With our web site, you will easily be able to register online for a league team, check important dates, sign your team up for one of our tournaments, and get contact information.

Mission Statement: The Clintonville Youth League is a non-profit organization which endeavors to provide a safe, affordable, well organized program through which our youth can learn, enjoy and play the game of baseball.  We also aspire towards a spirit of community in which our youth, parents and volunteers can participate freely and work towards the common goal of keeping all participants healthy and safe.  The Clintonville Youth League is committed to the development of superior citizens, rather than superior athletes.

Registration for league play is now open for boys and girls of all ages. Players are welcome not only from Clintonville but from all surrounding communities. The league generally starts in the middle of May and is done in the middle of July. Every player is placed on a team regardless of experience. We have five different age levels:

  • 4-5-6 year olds (Pre-K, 4K & 5K) play T-Ball
    • learn the basic baseball rules and fundamentals
    • ball is hit from a Tee
    • a scrimmage-like game is played against other Clintonville 5 & 6 year old teams with no score kept
    • all games and most practices are Sunday afternoons and evenings
  • 7-8 year olds play (1st & 2nd grade) Coach-Pitch baseball
    • continued instruction on baseball fundamentals
    • coaches will pitch to their own players
    • a 5-inning game is played against other Clintonville 7 & 8 year old teams
    • games are usually Sunday through Thursday @ 6:00pm, practices are set by the coaches
  • 9-10 year olds (3rd & 4th grade) play Little League style baseball
    • more training on baseball mechanics
    • players pitch to opposing batters
    • a 6-inning game is played against other Clintonville 9 & 10 year old teams, stealing is introduced
    • games are usually Sunday through Thursday @ 6:00pm, practices are set by the coaches
  • 11-12 year olds (5th & 6th grade) play Little League style baseball

    • a 7-inning game is played against teams from the Wolf River League (Black Creek, Shiocton, New London, Weyauwega, Iola, and Bonduel)
    • games are scheduled by the coaches and can be any day of the week, practices are set by the coaches
  • 14-15 year olds (8th & 9th grade) play Babe Ruth baseball
    • full competitive baseball
    • games are played on a full-size diamond
    • a 7-inning game is played against teams from the Wolf River League (Black Creek, Shiocton, New London, Weyauwega, Iola, Bonduel, Omro & Winneconne)
    • games are scheduled by the coaches and can be any day of the week, practices are set by the coaches
    • home games are played at W.A. Olen Park on the Don Jirschele Diamond

Kids can also try-out to be on a traveling tournament team. The tournament teams consist of 12 players at each age, starting at 8 years old. These teams usually play in 3-4 tournaments in the surrounding area, including our own Clintonville tournament in July. There may be an additional cost to be on a tournament team. Try-outs for tournament teams are usually held on a weekend in late April or early May. More information about trying out for a tournament team will be distributed by your player's coach after the season starts.

The CYL is completely run by volunteer parents and community members who generously offer their time and talents. It takes a large number of people to make the season a success. We encourage anyone interested in getting involved to attend upcoming meetings. Contributions great and small are appreciated.
